Safe Travels

Me enjoying a “Fergburger” - Queenstown - New Zealand

We all want to stay safe whilst travelling; and we all want our trip to be rememberable for all the right reasons! So here are some of my top tips to help you have a smooth, stress free journey:

Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance: I’m sure we’ve all heard of this before (some versions with an extra “P”,) but it really is gold dust. Check you have the right visa’s to enter the country. (To read about my first hand learning experience on this check out my New Zealand Blog!) Make sure you have all the travel vaccinations you require and any personal medications to last the entirety of your trip

Research, Research, Research: Now I’m not saying you have to arrive in country with all your accommodation booked and activities planned; but make sure you know:

  • Where the local hospital is

  • Have the emergency number written down or stored in your phone (e.g. 999 or 112)

  • Know the location of the nearest embassy (in case you lose your passport)

Keep your valuables safe: Make sure you keep your passport, money and phone safe; and more importantly, remember that safe location! Also don’t forget about it when you are on a boat trip and that boat decides to go under a waterfall (not speaking from experience at all here…) Safe locations may include a bum bag attached to yourself or a safe in a hotel

Email your insurance documents to yourself: That way you should be always able to access them if necessary
